Live Unified, Play Unified!
What is Unified Sports?
Dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences, our Unified Sports program joins people with and without intellectual or developmental disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
In Unified Sports, teams are made up of people of similar age and ability, which makes practices more fun and games more challenging and exciting for all. Having sport in common is just one more way that preconceptions and false ideas are swept away.
Our opponent is intolerance. Only shoulder-to-shoulder, as teammates together, can we defeat it.
Where Can I Play Unified Sports?
Unified sports are available all throughout the state! Unified teams can be found within schools and in the community.
For Unified partners (participants without intellectual or developmental disabilities) who are school aged, connect with your Athletic Director/Coordinator to see if your school has a team. If not, please reach out to UnifiedSchools@sowa.org and our staff can work with your school to get one started.
For Unified partners who do not have a Unified Sports program within their school or who are 18+ years of age, please visit our registration portal, create an account/profile, and select where you live. Special Olympics will match you with a nearby team.
